You must pass a knowledge test consisting of multiple-choice questions based on the Pennsylvania Drivers Handbook. The test has 18 multiple choice questions. 15 out of the 18 questions must be answered correctly to pass the permit test.  A score of 83% is required

What are the Steps After Applying for a Pennsylvania Learner’s Permit?

After passing the written permit test and getting your permit, you must wait at least 6 months before you are allowed to take the road test if you are under 18 years old. You must also get 65 hours, including at least ten hours of nighttime driving and five hours of bad weather driving, of on the road driving training before you can schedule your road test.  Drivers at 18 and older can schedule the road test whenever you would like and you do not need to meet the on the road driving requirements
