To apply for an Oklahoma Learner Permit, the applicant must be at least 15½ years old.
The applicant must appear before a Driver License Examiner. The examiner will process the applicant and administer a vision and written exam. If the applicant passes, the examiner will issue a form that is taken to a tag agency where they will pay the fee and get the permit printed

- When Can You Drive: From 5:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. While accompanied by a licensed driver at least 21 years old
- Requirements With Driver Education:
- At least 15½ years old
- Must be currently receiving instruction in or have completed driver education
- Must have passed written driving exam
- Must have passed vision exam
- Requirements Without Driver Education:
- At least 16 years old
- Must have passed written driving exam
- Must have passed vision exam

When Can You Drive:
5am to 10pm, unless for activities related to school, church, or work
OR Any time if accompanied by licensed driver at least 21years old
Passenger Limit: 1 passenger
OR Only people who live in driver's home
OR Any passenger if accompanied by licensed driver at least 21 years old
Requirements With or Without Driver Education:
Must have a Learner Permit for at least 6 months
Must have had at least 50 hours (10 hours at night) of behind-the-wheel training from
licensed driver at least 21 years old and licensed for at least 2 years
Must have no traffic convictions on driving record
Must have passed driving skills exam
You must pass a knowledge test consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions based on the Oklahoma Drivers Handbook. A score of 75% is required. You must answer at least 30 questions correctly
The applicant must bring in the following:

- Social Security Number
- If you are under 18 years of age, you must bring documentation showing you meet the current enrollment or attendance requirements in a secondary or vocational technical school and that you have successfully passed the criterion - referenced reading test required for all eighth grade students (usually referred to as the school letter). - If you are under the age of 18 you must have a Parent or Legal Guardian present.
- If you are between the age of 15 1/2 and 16 you must bring documentation showing that you are receiving instruction in a driver's education course (i.e., certificate or green card from public school driver's ed) or a contract for driver's education from a commercial school or a parent-taught driver's education affidavit. Driver Education is not required if you are over the age of 16, however if you are taking or have completed Driver Education bring in the documentation. - If you are under the age of 18, you must have a permit for 6 months from the issue date
- Anyone over 18 who gets a permit must hold it for 30 days minimum.
