The 14-year-old permit is a very limited permit. The 14-year-old permit is only good in the driver’s education vehicle with the driver’s education instructor. For the 14-year-old learner’s permit, you must be able to provide proof of being enrolled in a driver’s education program from the school that you are attending and you must meet all other requirements. When you reach the age of 15, you must apply for the regular 15-year-old permit before your 12 months time frame will count towards being able to take your driving test.

An intermediate license allows unsupervised driving from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. through 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and no time restrictions if going to and from work for citizens. At all other times, the intermediate licensee must be supervised by a parent, guardian or other person age twenty-one (21) years or older who holds a valid driver’s license under this article and who is actually occupying the seat beside the driver

A vision test is required to obtain a Mississippi Driver’s License.

Once you get a learner’s permit, practice driving with a licensed driver 21 or older. If you are under 17, there is a 12 month waiting period before you are allowed to take your road test. If you are 17 or older, you can take your road test right away, including on the same day that you pass the written test
