You are eligible to get your Minor Driver’s License when you are 16 and over if: you hold an Instruction Permit for at least 1 year; You receive Behind-The-Wheel-Training with an approved instructor; You pass a vision test and road skills test.

If you are under 18 years old, your parent has to sign an Affidavit of Liability and Guardianship. While it is usually done at the DMV, there may be other options available if that is not possible. Contact the Colorado DMV office at (303) 205-5600 for other options.
A vision test is required to obtain a Colorado Learner’s Permit and Driver’s License.
A photograph will be taken at the Colorado DMV office after you pass your written test.
After you pass your written exam and get your Learner’s Permit, it will be valid for 3 years, but you can complete the process quicker than that. You should then practice for the road skills test and complete the required 50 driving practice hours, which must include 10 night driving hours. You must have the Learner’s Permit for at least 12 months if you are under 18 years old.
