You are eligible to get an Instruction Permit when you are 15 1/2 years old in Arizona
You are eligible get your Driver’s License when you are 16 years old in Arizona
You must provide the following documents to apply for an Arizona's Learner's Permit or Driver's License:
- 2 forms of Identification, including 1 with a clear photo
- Social Security Number
- If you do not have photo identification, then 3 forms of identification are required
- You can use a parent or legal guardian’s photo identification as 1 form of identification
Acceptable identification includes: Birth certificate and United States Passport. Other forms may be acceptable. See AZ MDV site for currently accepted identification: https://apps.azdot.gov/files/mvd/mvd-forms-lib/96-0155.pdf
Signed Application, including a parent’s signature for drivers 15 ½ to 18 years old

A parent should accompany you if you are under age 18. A notarized parent consent form must be provided if a parent cannot be present
A vision test is required to obtain an Arizona Driver’s License
A photograph will be taken at the Arizona MVD office on the date of your written permit test
The requirements to apply for an Arizona Driver’s License are:
- At least 15 1/2 years old
- Bring required identification
- Pass vision and written exam at MVD
- Proof of completion of at least 30 hours of behind-the-wheel training, including 10 hours at night
After you get your Learner’s Permit, you must:
- Practice for your road test
- You must have your Learner’s Permit for at least 6 months before applying for the road test
- You also need 30 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed driver 21 years of age or older before applying for the road test or train with an MVD-approved certified driving instructor
